San Diego situated in southern California, the beautiful city of San Diego is an ideal holiday destination with perfect weather year round, great shopping, exciting nightlife, tasty international cuisine and a host of fantastic attractions. With its coastal positioning, San Diego has breathtaking beaches and dramatic cliff faces to enjoy. The city has a fantastic shopping atmosphere with an array of mega malls including Horton Plaza in Downtown, Westfield Mission Valley and Fashion Valley in Mission Valley. Hillcrest and some of the beach neighbourhoods are home to smaller specialised shops which offer a unique shopping scene.

San Diego has a lively and exciting nightlife with bars, pubs and live music clubs. The Gaslamp Quarter and Pacific Beach have the best selection of venues. The downtown area of the city is teeming with restaurants with an array of international cuisines available including: Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French, Mexican, Moroccan, Persian and Cuban.

Transport Around San Diego

San Diego is easily accessible with the international airport located only 10 minutes from the downtown area. There are many flights arriving from American and international cities daily. Santa Fe Depot train station is situated in downtown San Diego and Amtrak train services operate from the stop. Greyhound and GotoBus service an array of cities all over the United States. If driving into San Diego, take Interstates 5, 8 or 15.

San Diego is considered to be a safe city with a relatively low violent crime rate. There are incidences of theft so be wary of your surroundings, especially at night. Leave any important travel documents or valuables in your hotel safe to avoid any problems. The picturesque beaches are notorious for their strong rip currents, which are hard to see. Always swim near the lifeguard and within your own limits. For these reasons we recommend that you purchase travel insurance for you and your family before you head out on your holiday.
