Travel Insurance for Pre Existing Medical Conditions

Taking out travel insurance with pre-existing medical conditions shouldn't be a problem, but these must be declared when taking out your travel insurance no matter how minor they are.

A pre-existing medical condition is a short or long term condition, illness or injury you have or have had before you buy travel insurance, whether that’s a diagnosis of a medical condition, having symptoms, tests or medical treatment.

This can include amongst others, cancers, urinary tract infections, diabetes, circulatory conditions such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol, breathing conditions such as asthma and COPD, psychiatric or psychological conditions such as anxiety or depression, bone conditions and many more.

Pre-existing Medical Conditions FAQ's

How will I know if I have an existing medical condition?

During the quote process you will be asked some basic medical questions and depending on your answers you may then be directed to the online medical screening process where you can enter the condition or conditions that you have.

What is medical screening?

Medical screening is a series of simple questions that will determine what conditions you have and then what travel insurance cover we may be able to offer you for your medical condition whilst you're away on holiday.

if you need more help or would prefer to go through mediacl screening on the phone then just call us and we’ll be happy to give you a quote over the phone.

What should I do if my medical situation changes?

If your medical situation changes at any point after the purchase of your single trip or annual travel policy you must call to inform us of this change in health to ensure you are fully covered for your trip.

What happens if you can't cover my particular condition?

If you require cover for a more serious medical condition that we can't cover, MoneyHelper may be able to help in finding you a specialist travel insurance through their medical directory. If you wish to get in touch with them you can call them on 0800 1387777 or find them online here, (Monday to Friday 8:00-18:00).

* If your cover does not meet your requirements, please notify us within 14 days of receiving your policy schedule and if requested return all your documents for a refund of your premium. If during this 14 day period you have travelled, made a claim or intend to make a claim then we can recover all costs that you have used for those services. Please note that your cancellation rights are no longer valid after this initial 14 day period.
