Situated in the heart of Southeast Asia, Thailand is a wonderfully diverse country with beautiful tropical beaches in the south and picturesque mountains in the north, it has a lot to offer tourists. Known as the 'land of smiles', Thailand's hospitality is second to none, which is why the country attracts more tourists on holiday each year than anywhere else in Southeast Asia. With historic temples, luxury resorts, tasty local food and endless tourist attractions, Thailand has much to offer it's guests.

Positioned in the middle of Thailand is the capital of Bangkok. The bustling metropolis has some amazing temples and fascinating markets. The Grand Palace is one of the most popular attractions, home to the stunning Wat Phra Kaeo, also known as the Emerald Buddha Temple. In the business district many luxury hotels, new-age shopping centres and fine restaurants can be found.

From Bangkok, head south to see the famous islands and beaches of Thailand. On the southeast coast in the Gulf of Thailand the gorgeous island of Koh Samui is where many luxury resorts are situated. The small island is packed with family activities ranging from elephant rides, go-carting, golf, snorkelling and scuba diving as well as natural waterfalls and spectacular viewpoints along the dramatic coastline.

In the north of Thailand lies the country's second largest city, Chiang Mai. This stunning city is situated in the spectacular mountain ranges of the north. The city is home to over 300 temples and some beautiful scenery in nearby national parks, popular with tourists who look for more than just beaches when on summer holiday. There are plenty of fine restaurants offering a range of cuisine, coupled with great shopping in the street markets, makes Chiang Mai a very charming and popular city.

With four international airports, access to Thailand is made easy. Bangkok's newly built Suvarnabhumi International Airport has many direct flights arriving and departing to all major cities around the globe. With a few different budget airlines flying nationally, travelling around the country is painless and inexpensive.

Although Thailand is generally safe for tourists there are some things to be aware of. The roads are particularly dangerous, with many fatalities each year; if hiring a scooter make sure to wear a helmet and drive carefully. Confidence scams run in Bangkok, with official looking people offering great deals on gems and other precious stones.
