Saint Louis is situated in the midwestern state of Missouri, Saint Louis is filled with history, culture and architecture. It has everyhting a tourist could need to enjoy a great holiday. Saint Louis is home to the spectacular Gateway Arch, which is the world's tallest national monument. The symbolic gateway has a unique elevator that takes you to the top for perfect uninterrupted views of the whole city.

Forest Park is positioned close to the city and is one of the country's largest city parks. The sprawling green area is home to an array of activities including golf, tennis, swimming pools, boating, fishing, ice-skating and much more. There is also an art and history museum, science centre and animal zoo.

For some nightlife entertainment Saint Louis is a great town with a host of bars, clubs and pubs. With most of the bars situated around the central west end and downtown area, walking from location to location is an enjoyable experience. The city is also known for its world famous Anheuser-Busch brewery, which produces Budweiser. The brewery offers exciting tours with beer-tasting afterwards.

Transport Around Saint Louis

Getting to Saint Louis is easy with an international airport serving most major cities in America and also Canada. The airport is located just a short drive from downtown and has a plethora of transport options into the city. Greyhound and Megabus companies both have a wide range of routes heading to and from Saint Louis. Travelling in by train is possible using the Amtrak service and by car Interstates 70, 64, 55, 44 and Highway 40 all pass through Saint Louis.

Saint Louis is listed as one of the most dangerous cities in America but in the downtown and central tourist areas this could not be further from the truth. Even at the night the city is relatively safe. As with any large city care should be taken when travelling at night and common sense used. It is advised to be careful of your belongings if using the metro network as some incidents of pick-pocketing and bag snatching have been reported. For these reasons it is advised that you take out travel insurance for you and your family before leaving for your holiday.
