France Ski Resort Guide for La Plagne
About the Resort
La Plagne consists of 10 separate vilalges, 6 are purpose built at altitude in the main bowl on or above the tree line line and linked by road, lifts and pistes. The other four are scattered around outside the bowl. The core resorts vary a lot in character. Lifts service the centre and sides of the bowl the major one being the twin cable gondola to Grande Rochette. There is a free bus service between the villages.
About the Mountains near La Plagne
The majority of the slopes in the main bowl are above the tree line, though there are trees scattered around mos the resort centres. Most of the runs are snow sure. There are some good black runs and a great variety of blue and red runs. It is a good place to learn with each of the main centres having its own nursery slopes on its doorstep. There is a drag lift in each resort.
Après Ski at La Plagne
There are numerous mountain restaurants and are only over crowded in peak periods. There is also a good choice of casual restaurants including pizzerias and grills. It has a wide range of apre ski and caters particularly well to the younger crowd. It has a wide selection of pubs, bars and discos.
