Repatriation Cover
Travelling overseas for business or pleasure always involves some element of risk, just as it does at home but more so. As such when travelling overseas we are not in the best position to control the situations we find ourselves in and on occasions it may be deemed necessary to bring you back to the UK for additional medical attention or in some situations your return flight to the UK needs to be under the medical supervision of a nurse and or Doctor.
Did you know, for instance, that last year thousands of Britons required Emergency Repatriation after experiencing a medical setback while travelling abroad? Repatriations are either by scheduled airline services or by specialist air ambulances.
Repatriation cover is an integral part of the Emergency Medical Expenses section of this travel insurance policy. Repatriations are arranged by whatever means are deemed to be medically appropriate for the individual case, as determined by the Assistance Service on the policy.
We have added below details relating to repatriation from Section 2 of our policy wording.
"Additional travelling costs to repatriate You Home when recommended by Our Medical Officer. We will pay for the cost of a medical escort if considered necessary.
"If Our Medical Officer advises a date when it is feasible and practical to repatriate You, but You choose instead to remain abroad, Our liability to pay any further costs under this Section after that date will be limited to what We would have paid if Your repatriation had taken place."
