Hazardous Activities and Sports Insurance

We offer two travel insurance policies one specifically for persons aged 64 and under and our seniors policy where we have teamed up with GTG.

We Include 63 Sports and Leisure Activities Free!

When you go on holiday you will often want to participate in sports and sometimes more extreme sports or hazadous activities. To ensure we offer some of the most competitive travel insurance we now include 63 additional sports and activities as standard with no additional premium to pay.

The following activities are covered at no extra premium.
Abseiling, archery, athletics, ballooning - hot air (organised pleasure rides only), banana boating, bungee jumping, canoeing (up to grade 2 rivers only not white water), climbing wall, cricket, deep sea fishing, football or soccer (children’s club in resort only), glacier walking, golf, high rope activities, hiking (trekking and walking), hockey (under 16s using plastic sticks), horse riding (not competitions, racing, jumping, hunting, eventing, polo or rodeo), ice skating or blade skating (not speed skating), kayaking (up to grade 2 rivers only, not white water), mountain biking, parascending or parasailing (over water), pony trekking, rap jumping, ringos, roller skating or roller blading (wearing pads and helmets), rowing, sail boarding or windsurfing, safari trekking in a vehicle (organised tour), safari trekking on foot (organised tour), scuba diving to 30m (if you hold a certificate of proficiency or are diving with a qualified instructor), sledging (pulled by dogs or horses or reindeer as a passenger), snorkelling, surfing, tug of war, volley ball, wake-boarding, water polo, water-skiing, white water rafting (up to grade 3 river), windsurfing or sail boarding, zip-trekking (including over snow), zorbing.

The following activities are also covered however, cover under ‘Section 10 - Personal liability’ in our Policy Wording does not apply.
Camel riding, catamaran sailing (if qualified), clay pigeon shooting, dinghy sailing, elephant riding, go karting, jet boating, jet skiing, paint balling (wearing eye protection), quad biking, rifle range shooting, sailing (if qualified and in territorial waters only), shooting, ski dooing, small bore target shooting, snow mobiling, yachting (if qualified in territorial waters only).

We also offer some additional activities where an additional premium is required these include:

Category A sports and leisure activities
• The following activities are only covered when the extra premium has been paid for Category A activities.
Dry slope skiing, football or soccer (other than children’s club in resort), hockey, kite surfing, sand dune surfing or skiing, street hockey (wearing pads and helmets).
• The following activities are also covered when the extra premium has been paid for Category A activities however, cover under ‘Section 10 - Personal liability’ does not apply.
Fencing.

Winter Sports Activities

If you have chosen to and paid the additional premium to include our winter sports cover we include skiing (including on dry slopes and indoor ski centres), snowboarding, big-foot skiing, cross-country skiing, glacier skiing, monoskiing, off-piste skiing or snowboarding (as long as you are skiing within the ski area boundaries of a recognised ski resort and following ski patrol guidelines), sledging, snow blading, snow tubing, and tobogganing.

You may wish however to participate in more extreme sports and pursuits during your winter ski holiday and for a small additional premium we can also cover bobsleighing, heli-skiing and ice hockey. The following activities are only covered if you have chosen to include winter sports cover and when the extra premium has been paid for Category B winter sports activities.

100 Activities can be included (subject to additional premium being paid)

Your travel insurance automatically includes all sports listed below in Category A. You will not be covered for any other hazadous activities unless it is listed below and you have paid the required premium where appropriate. In respect of hazadous pursuits categories B - D, the maximum age limit is 75. Please refer to the policy wording - page 4 for full details.

Category A - The following activities are included at no extra premium

Aerobics, archery, badminton, basketball, beach games, bowls, canoeing, cricket, cycling (but not BMX and mountain bikes), fell walking, rambling and trekking, fishing, ice-skating (rink only), parascending (towed by boat), rafting, kayaking (including white water up to grade 3), roller skating, scuba diving (up to 18 metres), skateboarding, snooker, pool & billiards, snorkelling, squash, surfing, swimming (in a pool or inland or coastal waters within a 12 mile limit from land), table tennis, tennis, volleyball, [water-skiing, windsurfing, yachting, boating, sailing or rowing (only on inland or coastal waters within a 12 mile limit from land)].

The following category activities are not covered by this insurance unless an additional premium has been paid and the schedule of cover and limits shows the cover has been provided:-

Category B - Provided you have paid the appropriate premium, you will be covered for all the activities listed in category A plus the following activies:-

Boxing training (no contact), bungee jump- no PA cover, camel/elephant riding, cycle touring, deep sea fishing, dog sledging, flying a private plane or small aircraft, flying as a passenger in a private or small aircraft, go karting (specific use), gymnastics, hiking (between 2,000 - 6,000 metres altitude), hockey, horse riding (no polo, hunting, jumping), hot air ballooning (non UK organised), hydro zorbing, kayaking, manual work 9ground level only, no machinery0, martial arts (training only), motorcycling (over 125cc - no racing) as a rider or passenger when wearing a helmet provided the rider holds an appropriate UK motorcycle license to ride the motorcycle, mountain biking, quad biking (no racing), rugby, safari (not involving use of firearms), scuba diving (between 18 - 30 metres), canoeing, trekking (between 2,000 and 6,000 metres altitude), white water canoeing/rafting (Grade 4), work abroad (manual, ground level only, no machinery).

Category C - Provided you have paid the appropriate premium, you will be covered for all the activities listed in category A and B plus the following activies:-

Abseiling, American football, gliding, outdoor endurance events, parachuting, paragliding, parascending (over land), sail boarding, sand boarding, sand yachting, skiing including Big Foot, Cross Country, Nordic & Dry Slope, sledging, snowboarding (inc. Dry Slope), snow kiting, snow mobiling, snow shoeing, white water canoeing/rafting (grade 5-6), yachting (racing/crewing) - outside coastal waters.

Category D - Provided you have paid the appropriate premium, you will be covered for all the activities listed in category A, B and C plus the following activies:-

Animal riding (other than specified), BMX cycling, bob sleighing, canyoning, hang gliding, heli skiing, high diving, horse jumping (no polo or hunting), ice hockey, land yachting, luging, manual work (including the use of light machinery), micro lighting, motor rallies, parasailing, rock climbing, rack scrambing, scuba diving (between 30 - 40 metres) if BSAC, PADI, DIWA, SSI or SAA member, show jumping (no polo or hunting), skateboarding, sky diving, tobogganing, wrestling.
