France Ski Resort Guide for La Clusaz
About the Resort
La Clusaz has developed into a major resort for both summer and winter visitors. It does get crowded and there can be weekend traffic jams. It has retained the charm of a genuine mountain village. There is a large old church in the centre and other originale old stone and wood buildings. La Clusaz has a friendly feel to it with a weekly market and lots of tempting shops and bars.
About the Mountains near La Clusaz
The low altitude makes the snow conditions unreliable. Most of the runs are west or north west facing and tend to keep their snow fairly well. The best terrain is at La Balme where there are several fairly challenging pistes above mid mountain. Intermediates will love La Clusaz as the slopes are gentle with a netword of tree lined runs. Beginners will find the nursery slope at village level and a couple of others above it.
Après Ski at La Clusaz
La Clusaz is becomming livelier especially during the weekends. It offers pubs discos and bars.
