Bad weather across huge areas of the USA has affected British travellers who were hoping to escape the floods.
The extreme weather has produced the ‘Winter Storm Pax ‘which has affected large areas of southern and easterly USA are currently which has been in its grip for some time.
The storm has so far dumped large amounts of snow and created very strong winds that have caused havoc by uprooting trees and blowing down power lines. Areas affected include Texas, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. Areas such as New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC and Boston will also be affected as the storm moves across the country.
The severe weather conditions have already caused problems for many airlines as flights to and from the UK have had to be been cancelled. Services to Washington, New York, John F Kennedy, and Newark have been severely disrupted for British Airways passengers. Virgin Atlantic flights have also been affected but not to the same degree and a Virgin Spokesperson said: “In view of the forecasted weather conditions, passengers booked to travel to and from New York, Washington and Boston on 13 and 14 February, who prefer to re-book for a later date, may do so,” Any re-booked flights must be taken on or before 19 February.
