Zurich, the leading insurance group, has launched a vast range of new travel insurance products that have been tailored to meet specific needs of residents from the UAE.

The UAE has been selected by Zurich as a launch market for its fresh travel insurance propositions, ahead of a regional rollout in countries including Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Lebanon, the firm said in an official statement. The four types of covers – named Schengen, Family, Silver, and Gold – leverage Zurich’s worldwide capabilities and local knowledge.

While being revolutionary, the new policies come with a series of stand-out features, including Missed Event cover. Missed Event cover would be used if a customer is made to cancel their trip due to an accident or in case of an emergency. Should this event occur, the insurer will then pay for unused tickets for events including live concerts or a sports fixture, Zurich clarified.

If they have Missed Flight Connection cover, a customer that misses a connecting flight as the result of a delay will have Zurich pay for another one for them. With the Family policy, Zurich doesn't put a limit on the amount of children that can be included by a customer on their policy.

Zurich's General Insurance Operations CEO for the Middle East, Maroun Mourad, commented that the new product range has been designed to meet the specific needs that residents of the UAE have. Mourad added that UAE citizens love to travel yet often don't take out contents insurance, which leaves their homes at risk of being exposed to either theft or damage whilst they are holidaying.
