New figures provided by Turkey specialist Artemis Travel are showing that 35 per cent of UK travellers are bookings lengths of stay for their breaks that differ from the one or two week norm.

This year, many breaks are ranging from three to 17 nights’ duration at Aegean coast resorts, giving travellers the flexibility to shop for better prices on flights.

The accommodation-only travel company has introduced a flexible stay policy, meaning that there are no restrictions on the length of stay or day of week of arrival.

Nigel Harris, the Artemis chief executive, said: “At the start of the year, 14-night stays were popular, reflecting the fact that there are less available flights to Turkey in low season. Our forward bookings have shown a marked variation in length of stay, however, as low cost carriers introduce their summer schedules, allowing customers and travel agents to ‘mix and match’ flights to find the best deals.”

Artemis features accommodation options at resorts in the Altinkum area, which is one hour from the Bodrum airport and 90 minutes from the Izmir airport.

Harris added: “Traditionally, tour operators have tempted holiday-makers into two-week stays by offering the second week at minimal additional cost to a seven-night break.”
