The news, in which the 23-year old female was killed after falling 30 floors from her hotel balcony early on Saturday, marks the third instance of a UK citizen falling to their death on the island in only three weeks’ time.

Friends and family have said that the victim, Charlotte Faris of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, was “sensible, friendly and nice”.

The incident occurred at the Hotel Tiex, situated in the city of Megaluf. Authorities have yet to release an official report detailing exactly what happened but said that the investigation continues.

Reports said that the woman had checked in with another woman the day before the accident and that Locals recognised Ms Faris as a previous visitor to the resort. Helmino Crespo, who manages the Prince William Pub near the hotel said that staff remembered the woman and her friend from a visit over the same week in 2011. He said that they were both “very nice”.

A spokeswoman from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office said that assistance was being provided to the victim’s family.

The news comes just three weeks after two British males – 20 year-old Adam Atkinson of West Yorkshire an 28 year-old Benjamin Harper of London – fell to their death in separate incidents just three days apart, both at the Sol Antillas Majorca resort.
