The Wasabi by Morimoto restaurant is the latest addition to the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel. Located in the city of Mumbai, this hotel is known around the world for its excellent and elegance.

The Madrid-based architecture and design company Rockwell Group Europe, who are often referred to simply as RGe, has designed the stylish and modern restaurant.

A talented team of architects and interior designers worked hard to ensure that the design and decoration of the new restaurant was flawless, offering diners at the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower Hotel the same dedication to detail that they have come to expect from this leading hotel.

Diego Gronda is the Managing and Creative Director of RGe. In a recent interview he commented that: “We were so excited about the opportunity to redesign Wasabi by Morimoto and the Harbour bar in such an iconic hotel. I have always been fascinated by Indian culture and craftsmanship, both of which were great inspirations for our vision. Our designs blur the boundaries between modern and traditional to create a sophisticated, cosmopolitan environment.”

The team was also responsible for redesigning and modelling the hotel’s historic Harbour Bar, which is located on the floor below the restaurant. In order to create the design concept for this famous drinking spot, the designers tried to echo the bar’s history in its elegant furnishings and finishes. The bar has long been the scene for high-powered business meetings, and the new design has a strong Art Deco feel.

Although the project was big, the guys at RGe meet the challenge with enthusiasm. As Rockwell Group founder and CEO David Rockwell revealed: “This was a fantastic opportunity for Rockwell Group Europe to bring their extensive experience and expertise in hospitality design to this magnificent Indian landmark.”
