Brittany Ferries are about to launch its new ship the Etretat which will be sailing from Portsmouth to Santander and to Le Havre on a ‘no frills’ basis. The routes are some of the ferry company’s most popular but they can be a little expensive for those passengers on a tight budget.

The first passenger ships to disembark will be leaving on the 25th March and will include 13 of the ever popular pet friendly cabins. There are plenty of other cabin types and cots are available, disabled passengers are accommodated but the ship has steep stairs. For those not wishing to stay in a cabin, the cheaper option is to reserve a lounge seat, there are not, however, any washing facilities or left luggage areas for those not in cabins.

The ship will have a self-service restaurant, a bar a small cinema and a little boutique. Unlike the other ships operating from the UK to Spain, there will not be any live entertainment or play area for small children although games and other activities will be available to borrow from the ship’s reception area.

From 25 March, Etretat will be operating a mid-week crossing that takes place on Tuesdays through to Friday’s to and from Le Havre, there is also a weekend sailing to and from Santander to Portsmouth.
