Cross-channel ferry passengers may see travel disruptions over this Easter weekend.

Reports said on Wednesday that French port operators are set to stage a day of industrial action beginning at 7am on Thursday morning; the strike will span through Good Friday and will affect sailings from the UK to four major ferry ports: Calais, Dunkirk, Cherbourg and Dieppe.

Now cross-channel ferry operator P&O has said that passengers traveling on Thursday or on Good Friday are likely to experience delays, although he company has said that its not yet clear how badly services will be affected. The company’s official statement said that the ordeal could involve a simple ‘go-slow’ approach or could entail temporary or total suspensions.

The strikes come following the breakdown of wage talks in Paris earlier in the week. P&O has said that it will now seek help from London and the French government in the effort of resolving the dispute.

P&O customers with tourism bookings are able to sail prior to the start of strikes or can move their bookings to Saturday free of charge, officials from the firm told the media on Wednesday.
