Sri Lankan Holidays has teamed up with AIG to offer travel insurance, the company announced on Thursday.

Officials from the package holiday firm said in an official press release that the move was the company’s latest addition to its value-added services. Those looking to take advantage of the new policies will be able to book them alongside the firm’s ready-made packages, which are inclusive of accommodation, airfare, excursions, airport transfers and visas.

Saminda Perera, Sri Lankan Airlines regional manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, said in a statement that as Sri Lanka’s national carrier, it is the airline’s responsibility to ensure that customers are offered the latest trends available in the travel industry. He added that the inclusion of travel insurance into package holidays would provide travellers with extra security and safety, allowing for better peace of mind during the journey.

Similarly, the carrier’s worldwide sales head Lal Perera said that the new policies would add extra appeal to the company’s travel packages but would also serve as an “important ingredient” in maintaining the success of the carrier.
