Evidently, the days when British tourists above a certain age were content to simply lie on the beach, doing little else than soak up the sun on their holidays are fast disappearing.

The new British traveller, regardless of age, seems to be looking for a lot more than just relaxation on their holidays both in the UK and abroad. TUI Travel’s Activity Sector manager, Lynsey Devon has recently said that the firm is witnessing an ever-growing number of requests for more adventure activities on holidays.

British tourists still love their sun and their beaches, but they’re also looking for a more varied set of experiences so they can return with interesting tales to share with family and friends.

More and more tourists in the age group of 30-40 years and even much older holidaymakers are now looking for excitement and adrenaline-fuelled activities to participate in during their holidays.

A recent survey from Mintel also indicated that British tourists are more inclined to plan their holidays in advance, studying their destinations and what they offer, in order to get a good idea of what they can experience on their visit. A significant ratio of Brits—36 percent of the people surveyed—have said they like to educate themselves on their planned holiday destination before they leave on their trip.
