Yet another UK travel operator failed on Sunday, leading to more chaos for British holidaymakers abroad on vacation in Turkey and for others who have booked their holidays in advance.

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) reported that K&S Travel, also trading Travel Turkey, suspended its operations on Saturday night, affecting the holiday plans of 550 Britons, either already abroad or due to depart in the near future.

"It's a very small failure, but it's a failure all the same," said a CAA spokesman, confirming the collapse of the company.

K&S Travel executives could not be reached for comment.

The K&S failure followed closely on that of XL Leisure, which grounded its flights on Friday, leaving nearly 85,000 UK tourists stranded in holiday destinations in the Caribbean, Europe, North Africa and the United States.

XL cited the high price of airplane fuel and a weakened consumer demand for its collapse, which before K&S was the latest in a series of travel operator failures in the UK.

The K&S collapse had an immediate impact on around 150 tourists, most on holiday at the resort of Bodrum in Turkey, according to the CAA.
