There are two new travel insurance products out on the UK market this week, both offered by financial service company, LV=.

LV= is now offering customers annual travel insurance policies, as well as individual single trip plans. Both policies provide travellers with up to £10 million in medical coverage. In addition, the policies provide substantial coverage in the event that a traveller loses or damages possessions, has money stolen, has a flight cancelled or experiences a flight delay (£2500, £500, £5000 and £250 respectively).

The policy provides good coverage in a number of standard areas, such as personal accidents and up to £25,000 in legal expenses. In addition, several other areas are covered included missed departures, lost passports and injuries in the event of a terrorist threat.

LV= offers passengers the option to purchase a standard comprehensive package or design a more tailored policy to suit specific travel needs. Special packages for wedding trips, winter sports vacations, golf tours and business travel are available.

Coverage with LV= for an individual trip to Europe for seven days starts at £15.01, however policies are available for groups and families for trips in the UK, and worldwide.

John O'Roarke, managing director of LV= general insurance, said: "Many travellers with medical conditions struggle to get travel insurance as many insurers don't offer cover.

"Our policies will enable customers in this situation to go away safe in the knowledge they are covered if they fall ill while overseas. The policy can be purchased online or on the telephone and there is no need for a lengthy telephone interview."
