Travel Insurance for Epilepsy

Epilepsy is the tendency to have seizures or fits caused by excess electrical activity in the brain. This causes a temporary disruption in the normal message passing between brain cells and can then cause a seizure or fit. There are many different types of seizures and each very indovidual to the person.

In the UK around one in 20 people will have a single seizure at some point in their life, whereas one in 131 people have epilepsy.

Generally epilepsy is treated with anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs). They act on the brain, trying to reduce seizures or stop seizures from happening. When taking AED's correctly those that normally suffer from epileptic fits or seizures fing that they end up with fewer or no seizures.

Medical Screening for Epilepsy

If you are epileptic we will need to determine the severity of your condition. When you get to section 4 in our booking process you will be asked a number of questions. These questions are really straightforward. You will then be given a quote for any additional premium (cost), to include epilepsy travel insurance on your policy.

At this point you can accept the additional premium, which will then mean once you have paid you are covered for your arthritis. You can also decide to decline the additional cover at this point, which would mean that you will still be covered for standard medical cover, but would not be covered for anything related to epilepsy.
