Hotel managers would obviously need to have good management skills and previous experience in the hotel industry. The range of responsibilities are wide and varied. The training of staff comes under the manager's umbrella and is a large part of the job especialy in a seasonal resort. A knowledge of other languages is vital and a past history of working in winter sports resorts a must.

Many ski companies operate 'Club Hotels'. These properties range in size from 30 to over 200 beds and tend to offer the informality of a chalet holiday, but in a hotel environment.  The emphasis is on a relaxing, informal and highly sociable atmosphere. It is hard work with 6 out of 7 days taken up with the general running of the hotel.
