Switzerland Ski Resort Guide for St Moritz

About the Resort

The resort is split into two parts. One is Dorf and the other is St Moritz Bad. Dorf is the more fasionable side with streets lined with boutiques and upmarket jewellers. It is the most fashionable destination in Switzerland for winter sports of all kind including ice golf. St Moritz Bad is less exclusive by St Moritz standards. Most visitors stay in luxury hotels. The resort is expensive and not traditionaly pretty being the victim of unattractive architecture.

About the Mountains near St Moritz

The resort offers lots of long and wide well groomed slopes that are just made for posing on. There is a free bus service but having your own transport would be advantagous. The expert skier will be disapointed to know that the main black runs are scattered around in different sectors although the cross country is some of th best around. The intermediate will find much more to their liking with most pistes well groomed and easy to manage. It is not an ideal place for beginners as the resort is in a steep sided valley with very little space for nursery slopes at its lower level.

Après Ski at St Moritz

Here the mountain restaurants are varied and not all of them are expensive with some self service establishments offering good food at reasonable prices. Booking is necessary for restaurants where they are well renowned for good food and glamour. The apres ski is well organised and lively and caters for all ages with piano bars and discos. Some require jacket and tie.
