Andermatt Ski Resort Guide

About the Resort

This is a fairly small town that remains popular with Swiss skiers who arrive at the weekend from Zurich. It is busy in the summer months but can feel deserted otherwise. It has an attractive town with wooden houses and some imposing buildings. There are good road and rail links to and from Zurich.

About the Mountains near Andermatt

The three separate areas of slopes are mostly above tree line and limited. A cable car from the edge of the village takes you to the more open and steep slopes of Gemsstock. It is a resort best suited to the expert skier although the intermediates will enjoy many of the immaculately groomed sections created for carvers.

Après Ski at Andermatt

The amount of apres ski and night time entertainment is matched by the size of the resort and its clientele. Cosy bars and hotels keep the resort alive during the week and a disco at the weekends. Mountain restaurants are around.
