About the Mountains near Pyrenees
The largest of the ski areas in the seriously mountanous area of the Pyrenees is an area shared by Bareges and La Mongie called Domaine Toumalet. This area has 62 miles of runadn 70 pistes serviced by 45 lifts. Most of the runs would be best suited to intemediates. There are some good tree lined runs above Bareges which is a spa village set in a steep sided valley. Cauterets is a bigger spa town and is a very popular summer destination. Font-Romeu is best for intermediates and families. St Lary Souland is a traditional village which also suits the intermediate skier.

The draw with this resort as far as apres ski is concerned is the reasonable prices and choice of venues which include thermal spas and good restaurants.
