France Ski Resort Guide for Les Deux Alpes
About the Resort
The village is a long, sprawling collection of hotels, apartments, bars and shops. It has grown haphazardly over the years and there is a wide range of building styles. Lifts are spread out evenly across the village but there is no clear centre. There is a wide choice of hotels but the resort does become very crowded.
About the Mountains near Les Deux Alpes
The six day pass cover a day in several nearby resorts. Helicopter trips are available. Although it is a big resort, it has a limited small piste area, the main sector being very narrow. The snow on the higher slopes is normally very good even in a poor winter. It can be dissapointing to intermediates with a lot of the runs either too dificult or to bland. The nursery slopes for begginers beside the village are spacious and gentle. The galcier has a good array of very easy slopes but these can close during bad weather.
Après Ski at Les Deux Alpes
There are plenty of places to eat out and some hotel restaurants have excellent reputations. The resort has sone of the liveliest apres ski in France. Most of the bars stay open until late and often have great music and a good atmosphere.
