France Ski Resort Guide for Flaine
About the Resort
This resort, although not very attractive, is very good for families. The few hotels within the resort are run by tour operators such as Club Med. The concrete nature of the resort makes it unappealing from the approach road. It has improved over the years and is capable of offering some glorious views in a pretty setting. In Flaine itself everything is close to hand including supermarket, sports rental shop and ski schools. A visit to Chamonix is possible if you have access to a car.
About the Mountains near Flaine
Although this is a family friendly resort it is also very good for expert skiers with some very good black runs. It is ideal for confident intermediates with a great variety of pistes. There are many excellent nursery slopes right next to the village, served by free lifts.
Après Ski at Flaine
Although there isn't a great deal of choice as far as venues go, it is possible to have a great time. Pubs, bars and bowling alley make it a great venue for family apres ski.
