Labour unions in France have called for industrial action against flag carrier Air France in late November.

According to an Irish Independent report published at the weekend, the group representing thousands of Air Flight attendants are seeking strikes from 20 to 24 November amid the carrier’s efforts to cut as many as 2,800 jobs.

Officials from the UNSA Aerien union have not yet indicated if the proposed strikes will lead to flight cancellations. An official statement released by UNSA Aerien officials said that the move comes in response to Air France management’s growing “appetite for taking away the social rights” of workers.

Meanwhile, Air France has said that it will release the latest details of the cost-cutting scheme early next month. The move follows more than 5,100 redundancies already announced as part of the carrier’s ‘Transform 2015’ restructuring effort.

Reports also said this week that the airline may have to resort to delaying the delivery of some of the Airbus A380s it has ordered in the effort of securing further cost reductions.
