British Airways’ newest wide-body jet will be utilised on flights to and from Toronto, the company has announced.

According to news reports published at the weekend, the UK flag carrier will begin utilising its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner on its Heathrow-Toronto route beginning on 1 September.

The news follows the delivery of the first of 24 of the highly anticipated US-made jets after more than two years of production delays. The release of the Dreamliner has been highly anticipated by airlines worldwide; the wide-body model features top-notch fuel efficiency, lower pressurisation levels and improved facilities for passengers.

British Airways has also received the first plane from its order for a dozen Airbus A380 aircraft. The carrier has already begun using the model – the largest commercial aircraft available – on its route between Frankfurt and its hub at Heathrow airport, making it the fifth airline to offer A380 service from the German gateway. However, the jet will be moved to begin operating Los Angeles service next month, according to BA officials.
