Southern Cross Travel Insurance (SCTI) has once again secured the top recognitionsat this year’s CANSTAR awards.

The news comes via a press release issued by the New Zealand-based firm on Monday, which said that SCTI managed to achieve a five-star rating award for the fourth year in a row via its TravelCare policy.

CANSTAR officials said that the recognition comes following a full survey of more than 170 insurance policies in which judges sought “the right balance between cost and features”. To be eligible for the award, policies must be comprehensive and must offer a standard set of seven benefits including overseas hospitalisation, luggage and personal effects compensation as well as alternative transport.

TravelCare received praise for its ideal features aimed at single travellers, as well as for its sharp pricing strategy – particularly for policies covering customers travelling to the United Kingdom, France, South Africa and Brazil.

SCTI’s chief executive Craig Morrison said in a statement that the award would continue to reassure customers that SCTI’s policies combine high-quality features with value for money. He added that TravelCare is largely successful thanks to its “direct to the consumer” approach and noted that policies begin at just AUD $15.
