Some rail passengers will continue to see delays due to the Angus derailment, Network Rail said on Monday.

The news comes a full day after a train came off the track at Inverkielor on Sunday morning. Officials from the British Transport Police told media that the incident, which occurred on the 08:04 departure of the Edinburgh to Aberdeen service, was a “minor” derailment, although a cause has yet to be determined.

No on was hurt in the ordeal; there were two crewmembers and 36 passengers on the train when the incident occurred.

Meanwhile, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch said that an investigation is ongoing and passengers with bookings on ScotRail and CrossCountry Trains are being forewarned of ongoing delays. Reports said that operators have commenced coach services on the line between Dundee and Montrose; the disruption is expected to last at least through Monday night, according to reports.

A spokesman said on behalf of CrossCountry Trains that the train had remained upright in the accident despite the front wheels having come off the track.

Meanwhile, travellers in London saw delays of up to an hour on Monday, as signalling problems affected Gatwick Express, First Great Western (FGW) and First Capital Connect (FCC) trains, although the issue was cleared up by midday.
