Struggling Indian carrier Kingfisher has changed the booking schedule on its website to show that flights resume on 20 October.

The airline, which stopped flying at the beginning of the month amid escalating financial distress, said however that its operations are “subject to regulatory approval”. The move is the third time the airline has changed the date in recent weeks; it was first set for 5 October and later to 8 October and finally 12 October.

Early this week, India’s aviation authorities threatened to revoke the carrier’s license if its management does not submit a satisfactory proposal as to why the airline should be allowed to continue operating.

Kingfisher stock has depleted by nearly half since January, as the company continues to deal with a striking labour force that has not been paid in months. Analysts say the company is millions in the red with its aircraft leasers and lenders after nearly seven years of profit-less performance.

Arun Mishra, head official for the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), told reporters earlier in the week that his organisation would write to Kingfisher officials to cease bookings until a recovery plan had been successfully approved by the DGCA.
