Among other winners in the ninth annual Travel Weekly Readers’ Choice Awards, Delta Airlines came in first place among US-based airlines to take the best American carrier award, whilst Changi airport-based Singapore Airlines was named as the number one carrier for business and first class service.

In the accommodation categories, InterContinental Hotels Group was chosen for its much-adored properties in Asia and Europe, whereas Marriott International won over readers for best hotel chain in the United States. Coming in as the best luxury brand was Ritz-Carlton.

Among destinations, Italy, South Africa, St Lucia and Australia were each recognised as the top travel spot in their respective regions. And in the US, Hawaii was named as the best state to visit, whilst readers said Las Vegas was the best city destination.

Meanwhile Royal Caribbean International was recognised as the best cruise company for trips in the Caribbean and the United States, whilst Celebrity Cruises took the top position for European cruises.
