A woman from the USA who was feared to have died has been found after a search that took five days. The woman went missing in Ireland’s County Donegal.

The woman, 41-year-old Kelly Katherine Jones, is from the US state of Georgia as in a weakened and disorientated condition when searchers found her. Following five days in which fears for her survival had mounted, she was found at an outbuilding in the outskirts of the coastal town of Glencolumbkille, near the area from which she was originally reported missing.

Following her discover, Ms Jones was transported by air to Sligo General Hospital. She was found at around 12.30pm yesterday by a Garda officer and a local farmer.

The woman’s father had already arrived in Ireland as fears mounted that she would not be found alive. Following her discovery, he was taken to Sligo to meet his daughter.

The area in which Ms Jones was found was hit by extremely heavy weather that lasted until yesterday. The weather – heavy wind and rain – meant rescue workers expected to be searching for a body.

Ms Jones, who works in catering, was last confirmed alive on Saturday morning at 11am. By the time she was found, Ms Jones had spent four nights missing and was thought to be caught out in the open.
