The Post Office might not be the first company you think of when it comes to travel insurance, but it would seem that they are a force to be reckoned with. In the recently held 2008 British Travel Awards the Post Office received praise for its travel money and insurance services.

For the third year in a row the Post Office was voted Best Travel Insurance Company, while the bureau de change service triumphed as the Best Foreign Exchange Company. The votes were cast by more than 90,000 industry professionals and customers.

"It’s an honour to be chosen as the people’s favourite travel money provider and travel insurer again this year. We have the largest bureau de change network in the UK handling 14 million transactions annually and issue over one million travel policies every year. We continually review our services to ensure they meet customer needs," head of Post Office travel services Helen Warburton commented recently.

However, while the Post Office provides excellent service, it remains to be seen whether they offer the best value for money. With numerous other travel insurance companies offering great rates on travel insurance and stellar services, the Post Office may have to work hard to hold onto their crown.
