Tesco Travel Insurance is offering travellers a number of suggestions in order to help travellers enjoy stress-free travel this summer.

According to Tesco Insurance, the most frequent claims made by their customers last year were for baggage loss, medical treatment abroad and trip cancellations.

In order to make filing a claim for lost bags easier, Tesco recommends that travellers report lost bags to the relevant authorities immediately.

The same is true for a time delay on a flight. Travellers who intend to file a claim with their travel insurance company for a delayed flight should request written confirmation of the delay from the train, ferry or airline. This written confirmation of the delay should detail specific causes of the delay as well as its duration.

For those who require medical treatment while travelling, Tesco recommends travellers first contact their insurance company’s emergency medical helpline before doing anything else.

More minor medical issues, Tesco says, can be dealt with directly by travellers, who are urged to retain their receipts along with any relevant documents for filing a later claim.
