Virgin offers Heathrow’s fastest check-in

In what may slightly undermine the airport hotel market, where long waits before flights have prompted passengers on early flights to shack up nearby to arrive on time for all the queuing involved in air travel, Virgin Airlines has been honoured with an award from Wallpaper magazine.
The illustrious magazine praised Virgin’s new Upper Class wing at London’s Heathrow Airport, saying it offered the Fastest Airport Check-in available in the facility and the rest of the UK. The facility had its grand opening last November, and its amenities designed for the sole purpose of speeding things up include a drive-through check-in (that’s right, not just for McDonald’s anymore) for those arriving by car and an exclusively dedicated security channel for its passengers.
Company spokespeople claim that these measures can have passengers through check-in and into the Virgin Clubhouse airport lounge in a staggering 3 minutes. Sara Henrichs, the travel editor for Wallpaper magazine describes the new way to fly as something that harkens back to a time when flying wasn’t all about taking your shoes and belts off and having your shampoo and water confiscated.
She says, 'Virgin Atlantic has unveiled the fastest and most enjoyable check in we've experienced. It is definitely putting in the groundwork for returning to the days when flying was glamorous.'
