Cunard, the luxury cruise line-operator, will officially launch its newest most luxurious ship having taken possession from its Italian ship builders near Venice. It will undergo a series of final preparations before it sails its way to Southampton for its naming ceremony. The Duchess of Cornwall will christen the ship on the 10th December in front of 2,000 VIP's.
The Queen Victoria is not the biggest of Cunard's liners but it will be the most grandest. The ship will have the capacity for 2,000 passengers and 1,000 crew to look after their needs. There will be 18 decks with one for elite passengers travelling first class exclusively. The ship has 3 eleven ton anchors and is 179 feet high and 106 feet wide. Work began two years ago employing 3,000 people at any one time. Tickets for its maiden voyage sold out within hours of going on sale. The cost of sailing in her will range from £19,000 to £210,000 for the palatial suite with marble bathrooms, balconies and a butler.
