Best value seaside towns

Travel Insurance News - 16/08/2007

A new report by Halifax Estate Agents found that nine out of twenty seaside towns offering the best quality of life had property prices below the national average of £200,000. The average seaside town sells at a premium of £5,298 which is three per cent above the average property price in each county. The locations with the highest premium were Sandbanks in Dorset, Mumbles in Wales and St Andrews in Scotland at 106 per cent, 92 per cent and 86 per cent.

Only three towns in the south east have average prices less than £200,000, Herne Bay, Southend and Bexhill on Sea. Out of the 117 seaside towns Bridlington, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth have the lowest average prices. Leigh on Sea, Christchurch and Bexhill were the most highly ranked for quality of life. Over the past three years Scottish seaside towns were the best performers with some towns seeing the highest rises with Eyemouth up by 82 per cent.
