Holidaymakers could find that if they are looking for a real bargin, then June is the month to do it. The industry has seen a huge over supply of holidays it can not match with buyers. The increase in cheap no frills airline seats has made the situation worse as people source their own holiday destinations online cutting out the travel agent completely. A spokesman from Thomson said that people who are able to be felxible about their travel arrangements and are able to travel during June, will find some fantastic bargains.
The summer sell off has once again highlighted the problems faced by holiday firms as they try to survive in an industry that is struggling with too many holidays to sell. There are worries that some companies will go bust and that many travellers will suffer as a result. Travellers using operators who are bonded under the Civil Aviation Authority's air travel organiser's licence (ATOL) will be certain to receive a full refund if the travel company goes under.
