Travel to the Caribbean could be blighted by adverse weather

Travel Insurance News - 09/05/2007

Meterologists are warning that holdiaymakers could be in for a shock when travelling to holiday hot spots such as the Caribbean, Florida and Mexico. Hurricane forecasters say that many areas should suffer as many as 17 storms of which nine are likely to develop into hurricanes. Five of these are likely to become major hurricanes of category three, four or five. The storm season of 2005 was the worst on record due to a string of category five hurricanes, Katrina, Emily, Rita and Wilma.

If you are looking for a hurricane free holiday in the Caribbean you should arrange to travel during the period May to December and travel during June early July and late November to avoid storms. Trinidad and Tobago are two destinations where hurricanes are least likely to occur and small islands such as Barbados and St Lucia are likely to be safe from the path of hurricanes as they hit there only every 15 to 20 years on average.
