Thousands of Britons are tipped to venture across the Irish Sea this weekend, in pursuit of St Patrick's Day celebrations that promise to be bigger and more boisterous than ever.
Irish tourism chiefs are promising parades, theatre, fireworks, live music and streets awash with Guinness, with Dublin alone projected to attract one million international visitors between March 15th and 19th.
The capital will play centre stage to the nation's festivities, with the annual parade of marching bands, dancers, acrobats and other performers moving from Parnell Square to St Patrick's Cathedral on St Patrick's Day itself.
Cork, the nation's second city, will commence street celebrations on Friday March 17th, while carnivals in Armagh and Downpatrick will showcase the revelries of Northern Ireland.
Britons heading to the festivals should make sure they are covered with proper travel insurance, to protect against lost or stolen property or the danger of ill health during a weekend where sobriety could be in short supply.
