More families are taking shorter holidays and are going to more exotic locations, according to one major holiday giant.

Thomas Cook claims it has noted that factors such as cheap flights and internet booking have led to families taking an increased number of short breaks over the course of a year, the Mirror reports.

It has also noted that a wide range of exotic destinations, such as Brazil, Cuba and Jamaica, are hugely popular with holidaymakers, although Europe continues to dominate the top ten most popular destinations.

Indeed, the growing popularity of taking a holiday abroad means that holidaymakers should put serious consideration into choosing the travel insurance policy that suits them best.

For example, for those holidaymakers taking a number of short breaks each year, taking out an annual insurance policy is a better idea than taking out several individual policies.
