BIBA: Don't cut corners on travel insurance
Travel Insurance News - 18/01/2006

The British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) has advised holidaymakers to find a happy medium between saving money and ensuring that they are fully covered when choosing a travel insurance policy.

BIBA warns that, while shopping around for the cheapest insurance package available is always a good idea, travellers should make sure that their policy is ideally suited to their needs, and covers them against all potential eventualities, the Mirror reports.

This means that any good travel insurance policy should cover the bareminimum of substantial medical expenses, repatriation expenses, cancellation, missed departure, travel abandonment, personal liability and legal expenses, and baggage loss.

Peter Straddon of BIBA commented: 'There's no point saving a tenner shopping around for a cheaper policy if you end up with one that doesn't pay out on a claim.'

Any holidaymakers planning on making more than one trip over the course of a year should consider taking out an annual cover rather than multiple single policies, as it is likely to work out much cheaper.

So, if you are planning on getting away this spring, shop around to find cheap insurance deals that cover all aspects of your trip.
