Skiers should shop for comprehensive cover
Travel Insurance News - 12/01/2006

Anyone looking to go on a skiing holiday should shop around to find an adequate travel insurance policy, a new report has claimed.

With the winter sports season underway, and thousands of holidaymakers leaving the UK for the slopes of Europe, comparison site insuresupermarket is warning travellers to ensure that they have a comprehensive ski insurance policy.

It encourages skiers to take out a travel insurance policy that covers inability to ski due to accident or sickness, and if they plan to try their hand at another winter sport, then that it covers that as well.

Richard Mason, director at the website, explained: 'If you're planning a ski holiday this winter it's essential to shop around for insurance. Don't assume that all travel policies are the same, or that they will cover you for everything that might go wrong.'

He also warned skiers not to take to the slopes under the influence of alcohol, as no travel insurance policy will cover for any accidents that could occur then.

The site also urges winter holidaymakers to take out a policy that covers the eventualities of equipment breakage, piste closure and avalanche closure.
