Thailand, the country of beautiful beaches and idyllic islands is making preparations to honour the Thai king's 60th year on the throne.

From next year the Thai people, who are amongst the happiest and friendliest in the world, will become even more gleeful as they throw music, sports and cultural events in honour of their beloved monarch.

The year long festivities to celebrate His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyade's diamond jubilee will include many jazz festivals, as His Majesty is rumoured to be a great jazz lover.

If visitors time their trip right, they will also get to see the Royal Barge Procession, Royal Procession and Trooping of the Colours.

The events are being co-ordinated by the Thai government under the banner 'Thailand Grand Invitation' - referring to the country's famous tourist attraction, the Grand Palace.
