Travel agents will struggle to find enough honeymoons for newly married gay couples, says the World Travel Market.

From December 5th this year, gay couples will be allowed to marry under new laws, which could potentially lead to a sharp increase in demand for honeymoons.

Fiona Jeffery, exhibition director at the World Travel Market show in London says that many travel agents are unprepared for the introduction of the Civil Partnership Bill, claiming that many travel bureaus simply haven't planned ahead.

'There's no doubt this will trigger a new and completely different demand for tour operators, and the industry has not even got off the starting blocks,' she said.

According to a report by Out Now Consultancy 274,000 gay couples in the UK are expected to marry under the new laws.

'Gay honeymoons are going to be booming but the travel industry has to do much more if it is to capitalise on the new developments,' asserted Ian Johnson, the author of the report.

If you are planning a honeymoon, don't forget to include travel insurance in your preparations.
