Egypt has experienced a rise in visitor numbers since the terrorist attacks earlier in the year.
The land of the pyramids and the sphinx has continued to attract tourists with its eastern promise, shows new research by Cheapflights.co.uk.
The Middle East topped the poll of most searched for holiday destination in September and the Dominican Republic, which has also noted a somewhat decline in visitors, has enjoyed renewed popularity in the new poll.
The Association of British Travel Agents hailed the Dominican as the hot destination for 2005, while more traditional tourists resorts, such as Greece and the Spanish islands, have gone slightly out of vogue.
Industry experts also predict that New York will be extremely popular this year with Christmas shoppers.
If you are going abroad, make sure you take out travel insurance before you leave the UK.
Travel insurance will protect holidaymakers in most eventualities, and cover expenses such as medical bills, repatriation costs and lost or stolen items.
