One in five Brits has experienced an angry outburst on the slopes, according to skiing research from Lloyds TSB Insurance.

'Ski rage', as it has been dubbed, can affect all parts of your holiday, from causing accidents on the slopes by speeding or swerving, to hogging lifts.

Over half of those polled said they had experienced rage from being cut up by a fellow skier, and a further 28 per cent said they became irritated by having someone bump into them.

Mistakes on the slopes can cause accidents, and with a million skiers are expected to head off for the snow and indulge in a winter sports break this year, it is important that skiers take out winter sports insurance.

The insurer estimates that 10 per cent of these holidaymakers are not heeding this warning, and run the risk of injury with no travel insurance to cover them.

Phil Loney, managing director, Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: 'While most people have travel insurance, not all of us remember that winter sports are not automatically covered.

'Checking that you are covered for injuries or lost property on the slopes is an absolute must.'
