A new travel guide has approached recommending foreign resorts in a totally new light.

Instead of looking at price or facilities and amenities, Fodor Travel Guides has examined resorts in terms of what innovative and unique experiences they can offer the holidaymaker.

Fodor's recommendations of where eager travellers can find unique experiences are situated all over the world and ranged from Thailand, Nicaragua, Spain and the US.

Prices also vary, depending on the resort. One night at the Coral Reef Club, Barbados, will set you back £120 for a single room, while the palatial plantation suite costs £1,271 per night.
