Women who want to learn to ski can now take lessons in a girls-only class.

Redpoint Holidays claims that men and women learn things in different ways and should therefore benefit from taking lessons in same-sex classes.

Nina Hasinski, co-director of Redpoint Holidays says that women are more cautious about taking risks on the slopes and need to feel reassured that techniques actually work before trying them out.

'A large part of the learning process is teaching our female skiers how to relax and allow the skis to work, rather than overpowering them,' said Ms Hasinski.

'Once they feel that the technique works and have had enough practice to confirm that they can do it consistently, their apparent nervousness disappears.'

Men, however, are eager to get out on the slopes and try out what they have learnt, commented Ms Hasinski.

When taking a winter sports holiday, it is important to take out specialist travel insurance.

Skiing can be potentially dangerous, and skiers are at risk of cuts, bruises and broken bones if they fall over.

Travel insurance will prevent holidaymakers from being landed with huge medical bills in the event of an emergency.
